Actions Update

*** Deployed ***

These features have been deployed and are broadly available.

We are working on a major upgrade in our ability to model features that have some actions associated with them. This includes actions that work like an attack, for example a breath weapon, apply temporary hit points, apply a condition, summon companions or change shape. Because of how extensive these changes are we are using an extended beta to expose and get feedback early. We are also not splitting it into many small releases. This is because we are trying to work through all of the issues in bulk to make it easier to ensure that there won’t be big modeling changes after release. We have already discovered gaps where we have had to rework modeling to handle all cases.

The documentation is getting split into smaller components so that it is manageable to read and should transition more cleanly after the features are fully released.

Components

  • Feature Actions: Feature actions allow a feature to have an action that displays similar to a weapon or spell.

  • Toggle Effects: Toggle effects allow a feature to have features that can be toggled on or off selectively, for example sneak attack.

  • Usage Counts: usage counts are not new, but they have new capabilities and fewer restrictions. It is now possible to set a usage value on a feature with requiring the feature to be shown on the character sheet.

  • Named Values: named values are not new either, but there are new capabilities when using them, including meta words that allow named values to be used in dice rolls.

  • Spell Modeling: spell modeling has been expanded to allow additional effects, including showing active spells that have been cast.

  • Create item: item create now has action options including action type, duration and usage consumption. This eliminates the need for some of the multiple create options hack.

  • Conditions: conditions can now be modeled as their own entry type or inside of actions. Conditions are now selectively removed during short or long rests.

  • Temp HP: temporary hit points can now be connected with conditions to automatically remove temp hp when the condition duration is finished.

  • Roll Modifiers: roll modifiers allow d20 rolls to be modified with additional rolls either based on features or selectively based on previous rolls.

  • Subfeatures: define multiple features as part of a single feature.

  • Restrictions: expanded to support active abilities, and general named values.

  • Spell Points: level configuration of a character can now allow the user to override the defaults for spell slots/spell points.

  • Feature copy/paste: you can copy features and then paste into a different feature.

Smaller Changes

  • Spell Save DC for innate and user pick now includes an option to set the spell DC value directly. If the DC is set with abilities then the best value will be selected.

Beta Package

We have put together a beta package that includes modeling for SRD and core content pack. This is a work in progress and more will fill in as we make the modeling more complete and expand what can be modeled. Click here to get the package.
